DOWNINGTOWN, PA — As America 250 celebrations begin this summer and communities prepare for the Fourth of July, a remarkable conservation success story is unfolding in Chester County with a fittingly patriotic touch.
Three baby bald eagles are currently nesting in Downingtown’s Kerr Park. Earlier this season, they were given the names Independence, Liberty, and Freedom — affectionately known as Indy, Birdie, and Dom — by Downingtown Eagle Watch, the local group that regularly shares photos and videos of the eagles with the community.
The adult eagles were named in honor of the late Lloyd Allen, a Downingtown veteran who enjoyed birdwatching in Kerr Park alongside his wife, Connie.
